Greekster.tv presents the Smooth 2009 National Stroll Competition Tour, sponsored by Yum Brands, visiting Los Angeles, CA, New York City, NY, and Austin, TX. This is the 8th annual collegiate dance tournament that brings together more than 50 of the top regional Greek fraternity and sorority stroll teams to compete for the national championship. The Smooth Tour reached over 1 million college students in 2008 and is back for 3 major live events as well as an online competition that integrates teams from major multicultural markets.
It started out as Silk and Smooth back in June 2002, and returns to NYC. This is the annual show Greeks circle on their calendar. Even before shows like ABDC, America’s Got Talent and Dancing with the Stars existed, this amazing tradition was brought to life at local universities. The sold out competition returns to the big stage on April 18th in L.A, June 6th in N.Y. and October 3rd in TX. Powered for the 4th straight year by Yum Brands, this annual show will forge history as national champs Gamma Phi Sigma and Sigma Lambda Upsilon return to defend their titles against a flock of intense competitors all vying for the title and bragging rights as ‘Best Stroll Team’, and a $1,000 cash grand prize.
“We’re very excited to come back and defend our title at the signature summer stroll show for Greek life. Its return to NYC presents an opportunity for us to perform in front of more than 3,000 college students, high school students, Greeks, and family members.”, says Eric Cortes of Gamma Phi Sigma Fraternity, Inc..
The founders of this event, have actively built targeted events for more than 10 years. “Our mission is to consistently create useful programs that meet our clients needs but simultaneously are of service to our audience. At this year’s Stroll Competition, we’re inviting high school students to attend for free so that they can experience a very different and fun side to college – that is greek life – watching the stroll teams compete for a national championship.”, says Anthony Aldaño.
